INFORMATION APPLICABLE TO ALL OFFICE APPLICATION COURSES and LEVELS

Each course is delivered over one day starting at 9:30 a.m., and finish at 4:30 p.m. These courses can be delivered in your company training room subject to certain equipment being available (details can be provided) or at a college or other location by arrangement.

Many of the people that have attended our courses have 'self-taught' themselves through necessity, and all have found this short formal training so helpful.

 

EXCEL INTRODUCTION

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for those that either have no knowledge or very limited knowledge of Excel, and want to learn how to get started with it. It is also suitable for those who have not used Excel in some time, or who are familiar with older versions of the software.

This course will teach you how to:

  • Create and format simple spreadsheets

  • Use a variety of simple formulae

  • Create effective and visual ways of displaying data in graphs and charts

  • You will learn how to:

  • Enter and format text

  • Change the size of rows and columns

  • Format cell and cell border colours

  • Create and replicate simple formulae

  • Use simple built in functions

  • Rename and colour worksheet tabs

  • Move and copy worksheets

  • Create a range of graphs and charts

  • Integrate spreadsheets and graphs into a Word document

 

EXCEL INTERMEDIATE

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for those that already have experience of using Excel on a day to day basis, and wish to extend their knowledge of the more complex features of the software.

This course will teach you how to:

  • Use Excel for more complex workplace tasks

  • Use a variety of built in functions

  • Create effective and visual ways of displaying data

  • You will learn how to:

  • Create complex formulae

  • Use and understand the relative/absolute/mixed function

  • Link data between worksheets/workbooks

  • Name a range for any frequently used constant or formulae

  • Sort and filter data

  • Use and understand conditional functions, including an introduction to the IF function

  • Show data visually with the use of conditional formatting and Sparklines

 

EXCEL ADVANCED

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for those that already have completed the Intermediate Course, and have experience of using Excel on a day to day basis. It is intended to provide knowledge of the more complex features of the software that can be considered in the workplace.

You will learn how to use:

  • Reference

  • Data Validation

  • Functions

  • Workbook Functions

  • VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP

  • Using the Watch Window

  • Scenario Manager

  • Create and Delete Macros

  • Create a Pivot Table

  • Sparklines

  • Sort Data

 

Using Microsoft WORD

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for those that either have no knowledge or very limited knowledge of Word, and want to learn how to get started with it. it is also suitable for those who have not used Word in some time, or who are familiar with older versions of the software.

This course will teach you how to:

  • Get started with Word using the ribbon and menus

  • Use a variety of text and formatting

  • Create effective ways to complete different document

You will learn how to:

  • Create and open document

  • Save and share documents

  • Use Text basics

  • Format pictures

  • Format text

  • Use find and replace

  • Indent text

  • Layout pages

  • Use line and paragraph spacing

  • Change default settings

 

POWERPOINT

 

Entry requirements

 

This course is suitable for those that have minimal experience of using PowerPoint, and wish to extend their knowledge of the more complex features of the software that can be used to create effective presentations.

 

This course will teach you how to:

  • Create a new presentation

  • Mange slides

  • Animate text and objects

  • Use and insert action buttons

  • Present a slide show

  • Review and comment on presentations

  • Use the slide master

  • Create an effective presentation

  • Use hyperlinks

  • Apply themes

  • Modify themes

 

Candidates also have an opportunity to create their own presentation using the skills gained during the course.

FINALLY

Each candidate will receive a certificate of completion and information on further learning if applicable.
